TRL / ACTIVE Privacy Policy

TRL / ACTIVE ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the TRL / ACTIVE mobile application and related services (the "App").

Information We Collect

• Account information — email address and name used for authentication
• Fitness data — workout preferences, exercise history, and plan progress used to provide personalized coaching
• Nutrition data — dietary preferences and meal plan selections you choose to provide
• Health data — HealthKit data you explicitly authorize (e.g., heart rate, active calories) to enhance coaching accuracy
• Voice data — real-time voice input during coaching sessions, processed by OpenAI and not stored as raw audio
• Location data — GPS coordinates during run and walk tracking sessions only, used to calculate distance and pace
• Usage data — app interaction data to improve functionality and user experience
• Device information — device type and OS version for compatibility and troubleshooting

Third-Party AI Processing

We use OpenAI's API to power AI coaching features. The following data may be sent to OpenAI for processing:

• Fitness profile information (goals, experience level, equipment, schedule preferences)
• Workout performance data (exercises, sets, reps, weights)
• Nutrition input (food descriptions for macro estimation)
• Age, if provided, for calorie estimation
• Voice transcripts during coaching sessions (processed in real time, not stored by OpenAI)

OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy, which states that API inputs are not used to train their models. No names, email addresses, account credentials, payment information, or device identifiers are sent to OpenAI.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Audio recordings or raw voice data — voice interactions are processed in real time and are not stored
• Medical or health records beyond what you explicitly share via HealthKit or Health Connect
• Contact lists or address books
• Payment card numbers — all payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Provide and personalize AI-powered fitness coaching and nutrition guidance
• Generate and manage workout plans tailored to your goals
• Track your workout history and progress
• Manage your account and subscription
• Improve app functionality and user experience
• Provide customer support

Voice Interactions

Voice interactions with the AI coach (TRL/Active) are processed in real time and are not stored as raw audio or full transcripts. Only derived summaries and preferences are retained to improve your coaching experience.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We may share data with service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processing) solely to operate the App, subject to contractual data protection obligations.

Location Data

GPS location is collected only during active run and walk tracking sessions to calculate distance, pace, and route. Location data is not collected in the background, is not used for advertising, and is not shared with third parties. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the service. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page within the App, or by visiting trlactive.com/delete-account. Upon account deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS with certificate pinning) and at rest to protect your data. Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted device storage (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android). However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Your Rights

TRL / ACTIVE complies with GDPR and CCPA. You have the right to:

• Access your personal data (available via "Download My Data" in Settings)
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time
• Data portability — export your data in a standard format

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
